This sharing is related to egg substitution. If you are a vegan or have already done an elimination diet, you already know these alternatives. You may not be vegan, you may not have gone through the edge of the elimination diet, but you may have run out of eggs at home Here are a few suggestions that come to the rescue (measurements are equal to 1 egg):
Alternative 1: 1 tbsp chia seeds + 4 tbsp water. It is ready when it acquires a jelly-like consistency.
Alternative 2: 1 tbsp ground flax seeds + 3 tbsp water. It is ready when it acquires a jelly-like consistency.
Alternative 3: Tip of a teaspon of Psyllium Husk + 6 tbsp of water. Stir for 30 seconds.
Alternative 4: 1/2 mashed banana
* Flaxseed is a source of phytoestrogens. If you have a condition (cancer, fertility problems, etc.), consult your doctor before consuming.
**As with everything, balance is very important. Food Engineer @erdemoner78 says that “Don’t consume more than 1-2 tbsp flax seeds per day due to their high lignan content, otherwise it will be toxic like hydrogen cyanide. Flax and chia with high phytate content should be consumed limited, because phytates adversely affect the absorption of calcium, zinc, magnesium and iron, reducing their mineral bioavailability.”
